Café & Retail

Novel South Capitol is thrilled to be home to the newest café concept from renowned chef, innovator and restauranteur, Erik Bruner-Yang.

Born in Taiwan and raised in the States, Erik Bruner-Yang is a multi-James Beard finalist, and was named Starchef’s Rising Star D.C. Restauranteur in 2018. He has been credited with introducing D.C. to ramen with Toki Underground, creating a dynamic, flavor forward menu at Maketto and even re-imagining what a restaurant feels like with Brothers and Sisters.

Through his Washington, D.C.-based concept development company, Foreign National, he thrives on an alternative dining concept - food and space as commons, creating a constant dialogue of community, culture and progress.

We are proud to showcase this philosophy and be home to Erik's newest concept, which will be announced later this Summer. Stay tuned and get ready for the neighborhood's newest hot spot.

  • Novel South Capitol’s lobby is integrated with an expansive café amenity that is also open to the public as a neighborhood meeting place.

  • Coffee is a lot more than just a drink; it’s something happening.
